WHY ALL THE HASSLE OF IMPROVING MOBILITY IN A LOW POPULATED AREA LIKE A RURAL AREA?

Why all the hassle of improving mobility in a low populated area like a rural area?

Rural areas population is declining, more and more people are moving to big cities to be closer to work and services as often living outside the cities means the need of owning a car and having long commutes.

This is one of the reasons why we must improve the mobility of rural areas, because if there are better connections to workplaces and services, people won’t feel the need to move as often the rent in rural areas is much cheaper than the one in cities.

By improving mobility, we can also lower the carbon dioxide emissions as transportation modes that can move more people like buses or trains have much lower emission per user than cars and lower the amount of traffic in the rush hours, which often creates traffic jams.

Thus, improving the mobility of rural areas can also improve the mobility situation in urbanized areas.

Better connections also increase the revenue of rural areas as being easier to reach means that more shops or factories can exist creating employment and income, lowering the need for private mobility.

Another reason is that not everyone can drive or has access to a car, for example, young people who still have to take their driver’s license or elder people who cannot drive anymore are in need of a solution for their travel needs and that is a strong motivator for our project
